The Beaches Arts and Crafts Show 2011

June 11, 2011

The Beaches Community & Arts Events Bring out Visitors & Neighbours

The Beaches Arts and Crafts

I don't suppose anyone would travel from Provence, France just to check out the local Beaches Arts and Crafts Show. But if they're already in East End Toronto visiting any of our attractions, this would be a great event to demonstrate the spirit or 'flavor' of The Beaches, one of our most popular communities.

What's Here?

I'm always looking for: house and home-warming gifts for my real estate clients, emerging trends in home decor, and new products that save time, energy or greenhouse gases. They're all here at the Beaches Arts and Crafts Show this year.

What's New

The Beaches Arts and Crafts Show InsideOut Art Lori DeeINSIDEOUT ART, by Lorie Dee really caught my eye this year.  My pictures don't do justice to her creations, so you should either visit her booth or check out her website at

Even viewing her pieces in the booth doesn't tell the whole story. You can only really appreciate her works when you see them installed in their intended settings. In some cases it adds colour and livens up an empty space. In others cases it defines the space and draws you in to create the intimacy of an outdoor room.

But what's really unique about her work is that it is based on exterior stucco materials that will actually endure 4 seasons of Canadian weather. And that's a completely new medium as far as I know!

The Beaches Arts and Craft Show is just one of many Community Events in The Beaches

We have so many wildly popular events in The Beaches that most of us take it for granted, I think. Probably the best known is the Beaches International Jazz festival, which runs July 15 - 24 this year. Think of it as a home-grown, PG rated Mardi-Gras, with entertainers on nearly every street-corner.

This coming Father's Day weekend, June 17th – 19th, we'll have the  Beach BBQ and Brews Festival, once again in Woodbine Park. Friday – 3pm to 11pm, Saturday – Noon to 11 pm and Sunday – Noon to 8pm. Seems kind of appropriate for Father's Day. Once again, entry is free, but of course the food and beverage vendors will be competing for your business.
